The Alpine Legend: More Than Just a Field Jacket

In the world of military surplus, few items command the same level of fascination as the Swiss Army M70 Alpenflage Field Jacket. Introduced in the 1970s, this heavy-duty coat was designed to serve Swiss troops traversing freezing alpine mountain ranges. Because combat in deep valleys and snowy peaks required soldiers to carry gear without relying on bulky packs, the M70 was engineered to function as a combined jacket and webbing system. The result is one of the most practical, rugged, and visually striking military jackets ever created.

Unrivaled Gear Storage & Integrated Rear Pockets

The defining feature of the M70 is its legendary pocket layout. While most combat jackets limit you to standard chest and hip pockets, the Swiss design goes much further:

  • Two Massive Front Chest Pockets: Easy to access even when wearing straps or harnesses.
  • Two Bellows Hip Pockets: Oversized to easily swallow maps, gloves, ammo, or field rations.
  • Three Giant Rear Cargo Pockets: Running across the lower back, these unique compartments function like an integrated rucksack, allowing you to carry heavy gear, wet weather gear, or survival supplies evenly balanced across your hips.
  • Left Sleeve Pocket: Quickly grab your compass, writing tools, or multi-tool.

Built for Alpine Survival

Constructed from ultra-dense, heavyweight cotton canvas, this jacket is highly wind-resistant and exceptionally tough. Unlike modern synthetic jackets, the heavy cotton is highly spark-resistant, making it the absolute favorite of bushcrafters and survivalists who sit close to campfires. The front zipper is backed by a heavy-duty snap storm flap, and the tall protective collar hides a stowable hood that zips out instantly to block sudden mountain downpours. Drawcords at the waist and hood, combined with heavy elastic cuffs, lock in your body warmth and keep freezing drafts and trail debris out.

A Statement Piece for Vintage Streetwear

Beyond its unparalleled tactical utility, the "Swiss Alpine" (Alpenflage) camo has captured the attention of the global streetwear scene. The distinctive blend of red, rust, green, and black provides a vibrant contrast to standard olive and desert camo patterns. Worn open over a plain hoodie or tee, the M70 is a striking, head-turning vintage layer that perfectly blends utilitarian workwear with bold modern style.

Authentic Military Surplus Condition

This jacket is genuine used Swiss military surplus. Every piece has seen authentic army service, giving it a rich, broken-in character. You can expect unique field-used traits such as honest color fading, storage creases, small soldier markings, or minor professional repairs. All zippers, snaps, and drawstrings are fully checked and 100% operational, meaning your jacket arrives rugged, functional, and loaded with real Cold War history.
